Nevada DUI Penalties

Nevada DUI Penalties

Regardless of the weight and frequency of your offense, Nevada DUI laws ask for strict penalties and punishments whenever convicted.

The punishments you will be facing when you are proven guilty would all depend on lots of other factors including the amount of alcohol content in your blood upon arrest. Generally, you will be serving jail time that range from two days to six months for the first offense and a $400 to $1000 penalty to boot. Aside from that, you will be asked to take an alcohol evaluation at your own expense that would usually amount to $100.

Based on your blood alcohol content as proven by the chemical tests you will have to undergo, you shall be required to go to a DUI school. At least a one-time 8 hours session or two 4-hour sessions shall be required of you. If your blood alcohol content upon arrest goes above 0.18%, you shall be asked to take a Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse evaluation also at your own expense. Court orders would also require you to take further counseling on alcohol and drug abuse. According to Nevada DUI laws, the more blood alcohol content you are proven to have, the more time you have to spend for DUI schools, evaluation and counseling.

Refusal to follow the punishments as stated in Nevada DUI laws shall lead to more serious charges. Nonetheless, law enforcements would use reasonable force to put you into chemical test such as blood and breath testing. Again, refusal shall lead you to more trouble than what you are already in.
